Updated the data savings post with Blockr and Adblock Fast: https://brooksreview.net/2015/09/data-savings/
Updated for Blockr 1.0.1 and Adblock Fast, 1Blocker still fastest: https://brooksreview.net/2015/09/content-blocker-test/
Ad Block Fast doesn’t block shitty Deck ads and has no options. So it’s not getting my seal of approval.
That might be the last time I use Due. Restarting my device? No thanks.
Wow had to restart my phone because Due had stuck notifications (app said to restart).
Good news for those of you wondering when I will be reviewing some more bags…
Oh, does this new “tweeting” method work?
I mean I figured no other sites would link to it. But still it amuses me.
The only big site to link to my content locker stuff is Lifehacker. Respect to them for that.
Looks like my post on why Native Advertising is a shitty solution just published. That wraps my rant on content blockers and advertising for the week.
All four parts are done, start here to get your content blocker knowledge on: https://brooksreview.net/2015/09/content-blocker-test/
Looks like my scheduled post was delayed, but part four on content blocking is now published. Details on how it works.
Boy do I wish I had Ulysses for iPhone…
I have one more post on content blockers coming. And then I’ll write about why “native” advertising is not the solution, and is problematic in big ways.
I want everything at Filson. Always.
Side note: I need to find a contact there so I can review their bags…
It’s cute, all the Canadians I see amped up about baseball this last month or so. So cute.
In case you hadn’t heard, 1Blocker is the fastest content blocker I could find: https://brooksreview.net/2015/09/content-blocker-test/
These guys are like mad scientists. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/danprovost/obi-a-smart-laser-toy-for-pets?utm_source=Studio+Neat+Newsletter&utm_campaign=951a265ce1-obi_announcement&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b3825429c8-951a265ce1-206782845&mc_cid=951a265ce1&mc_eid=b45091919f
That’s it for this weekend, more this week.
Ok just published a more in depth look at the top three fastest content blockers.
“The Deck doesn’t track you”
Yes it does.
“Umm stay tuned.”
I also plan on a larger test suite, and trying to mix combinations to see if there is a fast combo.
I have more thoughts coming today about my top three picks for content blockers.
I mean they will use content blockers, but they rely on the blocked content to make a living. I guess I have to do it?
Now realizing that most major sites haven’t reviewed content blockers, because secretly they don’t want people using them.
Seriously though, someone is working on a comparison post between all these content blockers, right?
I’ll tell you what else goes down easy…
So now can we do something about that tiny ass text on DF?
Ok, new icon added. sigh
Good lord, Apple pulled my logo from Apple News because it doesn’t look good enough, LOL
Fun fact: you can block every script and CSS file on my site, and I’ll still make the same money.
For those not finding @brooksreview in Apple News you just have to keep doing the same search a few times. It’s odd like that.
OmniFocus complication for Apple Watch is the shit.
New iOS 9 users: you can find @brooksreview in Apple News.
God. @ismh had the nerve to give me his address. Like I couldn’t guess it or something. Seriously, wtf.
Wow take a look at what switching to Piwik did to my running stat counter: http://status.brooksreview.net
Club MacStories, one year subscription, no brainer.
Holy shit guys, @shawnblanc posted two things to his site today. 😉
And while I seem skeptical about working from the iPad Pro. I’ve already proven to myself it can be done. http://ift.tt/1CS5UbZ
I’m very excited about the iPad Pro. http://ift.tt/1K1XYEa
In light of recent Apple announcements. Now has never been a better time for you to become a member of my site. Better for me, that is.
Has anyone heard whether Apple iPhone upgrade customers will be able to get the iPhone on day one?
Today I used a modern tool that still has a save button in it. And man was I confused as to why my changes weren’t saving.
Huh in setting up iOS 9 it looks like Apple addressed the worst part of Apple Pay: adding in cards. super fast now, no calling into banks.
It will feel smaller to carry a MacBook than an iPad Pro + Keyboard case thing.
“Kids it’s time to save up for new Apple gear. Top Ramen only for the rest of the year. Chicken or Beef?”
Gilt you don’t know fashion if you don’t sell suspenders. Just sayin.
